NRStor welcomes Kim Warren to its Board of Directors

NRStor is excited to announce Kim Warren as the newest addition to our Board of Directors. Mr. Warren was previously Chief Operating Officer at the Ontario Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and brings nearly 40 years of electricity market experience to NRStor’s Board.

“The insights and experience Kim Warren brings to our board as previous COO of the IESO is significant,” said Annette Verschuren, NRStor’s Chair and CEO. “He is a world expert on power systems and his extensive understanding of the electricity market will help NRStor grow and develop our energy storage business.”

Mr. Warren has had a long and distinguished career in the Ontario electricity sector, retiring from the IESO on January 1, 2017. During his time at the IESO Mr. Warren held positions including Vice President of Market and System Operations and Chief Operating Officer, Director of Planning and Assessments, Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Manager of System Operations. Mr. Warren was responsible for areas such as the management of the IESO administered markets, directing the operation of the power grid, interconnected system operations, renewable integration, coal retirements and IESO activities surrounding alternative technologies.

He was also an active member on numerous industry based working groups, chairing several, including the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, the Northeast Power Coordinating Council and the Canadian Electricity Association. Mr. Warren was also a Director on the Board for the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) from 2014 to 2016.

“My extensive experience working with electricity markets has convinced me of the potential energy storage technology has to evolve our system and I believe NRStor is well-positioned to be a leader in this growing market,” said Mr. Warren. “I look forward to working alongside NRStor’s Directors and leadership team to contribute to the growth of this exciting company.”
